The thing is, it is not always necessary to spend a lot of money on an all singing, all dancing potion, and in actual fact, there are many cheaper, more accessible, and more natural options that can often be found in our kitchen cupboard.

Here are just some of the best and natural ingredients, which can help to turn back the time by building your own anti-ageing regime.

Honey:

Honey is such a powerful health booster and is often used in natural remedies, but it is also really effective at reducing the signs of ageing. This is most effective if you use the purest form of honey, which is a great natural moisturiser, which is one of the most important things to concentrate on if you do not want to show the signs of ageing on your face. On top of this, honey is packed full of antioxidants, which will repair any damage that has been caused by free radicals.

To use honey effectively, you should use one to two tablespoons of high quality, organic honey, and apply it generously to the face and neck, before slowly massaging into the skin for a minute or two. Next, leave this mask on your face for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with water. You should aim to do this every other day.

Egg Whites:

Egg whites are high in anti-ageing properties, thanks to the high levels of omega 3 fatty acids, proteins and zinc. Egg whites are one of the most popular natural anti-ageing ingredients and are well known for helping to tighten the skin, which makes it firm and smooth, making you appear younger than your years.

It is a really simple mask for you to make yourself at home, and you need very few ingredients. Simply mix one egg white, ½ teaspoon of cream, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, before carefully applying directly to the face. Leave this on for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Repeat this every three days to see an improvement.

Carrot and potato:

This might seem like two bizarre ingredients to put on your face, but they are effective at creating a younger appearance. The reason that this is so effective is that carrots are really high in vitamin A, which helps in boosting the collagen production in the skin, which will reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and keep your skin nice and tight. Potatoes are also considered to be an excellent anti-ageing ingredient that will help to reduce wrinkles, as well as evening out the skin tone, which will give you an all-round youthful appearance.

To make a great face mask, boil up one small carrot and one small potato, before mashing them well until they form a smooth paste. Then mix in a small pinch of turmeric, and baking soda to the veg, and mix well, before applying directly to the face. Let this sit for twenty minutes before rinsing well with warm water. Repeat this twice a week.

Yoghurt:

Natural yoghurt is packed full of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and fats, which are all great at preventing wrinkles by keeping the skin fresh and well hydrated. On top of this, the lactic acid which is found in natural yoghurt will also help to shrink the pores and tighten the skin.

In order to make an effective anti ageing mask, you will need two teaspoons of yoghurt, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, 1 vitamin E capsule and a pinch of turmeric. Simply mix the yoghurt, lemon juice, honey and turmeric together, before adding the oil from the vitamin E capsule. Mix well and apply this mixture all over your face. Leave this on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with plain warm water. Repeat this two to three times a week.

Rose water:

Rose water is often used in natural skin care and has very calming effects on the skin. On top of this, it has regenerating properties, and increases the blood circulation in the capillaries, reducing the appearance of thread veins – a telltale sign of ageing. It can also help to reduce any blemishes you might have and puffiness underneath the eyes.

To make a great mask, you will need two teaspoons of rose water, ½ teaspoon lemon juice, a few drops of glycerine. Mix all of the ingredients together, before taking a cotton wool ball, and applying the mixture all over the face. You should try and do this every other night before you go to bed.

Coconut Milk:

Although you might associate coconut more with a delicious curry; however, coconut milk actually has great anti-ageing properties, which will help to keep your skin very soft and smooth. It is packed full of antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties which will all keep wrinkles at bay.

To use this effectively, you will simply need 3 tablespoons of coconut milk. Use a cotton wool ball to apply this all over the face, and leave for twenty minutes. Simply rinse will cool water afterwards, and repeat two to three times a week.

Banana:

Banana is well known for its anti-ageing properties, thanks to the fact that it contains high levels of vitamins A, B and E. On top of this, it is a great source of zinc, potassium and iron, which are all needed to maintain a youthful complexion.

Simply chop and mash one small, ripe banana, and add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of rose water, before mixing well. Add 1 teaspoon of yoghurt and mix well until it forms a smooth paste, before applying this directly to the skin for 20 minutes. Rinse well will cool water and apply once or twice a week.
