Turmeric is a fantastic spice and is used in a lot of home remedies, as it is a really effective natural anti-inflammatory. This is down the curcumin, which is what gives it its distinctive yellow colour.

Black Pepper

Although not to everyone’s taste, black pepper contains piperine, which is a naturally occurring chemical compound that is well known for having really strong antioxidant properties.

Studies have actually shown that both black pepper and turmeric inhibited the growth of cancerous stem cells of breast tumours, without destroying healthy cells.

Oregano is an incredibly powerful herb, that has been linked to the prevention and treatment of cancer. This is because it contains a molecule called carvacrol, which can help offset the spread of cancer cells by working as a natural disinfectant.

If you are not too keen on oregano, fear not, as this powerful molecule is also present in marjoram, mint, thyme, basil and parsley. Even marinating foods with oregano can help to reduce the formation of heterocyclic amines, which has been found to increase the cancer risk in animals, and is formed when chemicals are released when meat is cooked at high temperatures.

Oregano is an incredibly versatile herb though and can be added to different marinades, pizza, pasta, and salads just to name a few. The list really is endless though.
